I'm Hamilton. I'm a counsellor and trainer.

When relationships don't go smoothly or become difficult it can have a big impact on how you feel. Within a safe, confidential space we can explore this together, which may help you to gain clarity, heal and find ways to move forwards.

I believe all people have a voice that deserves to be heard.

I am ready to hear your story, in your own words, so that you can live the life you deserve.

Why did I become a counsellor?

Well, prior to this I had worked within the corporate world and performing arts industries. Back then, I discovered therapy myself as a client and this had a profound impact on me and my relationships with those close to me. It was such a nurturing and life changing experience and I decided I wanted to help others to thrive rather than just survive, and to move towards the life they wish to lead.

And so, I trained for 4 years at Metanoia Institute, one of the UK’s leading counselling and psychotherapy training providers, graduating as a qualified counsellor with my degree and Clinical Diploma.

Within my practice I am passionate about celebrating each of my client's uniqueness, and diverse identities and experiences. I recognise the oppressions that exist in society and offer LGBTQ+ affirmative, anti-racist, anti-oppressive relationships with my clients.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy and my work is strongly informed by their frameworks, meaning our work together will be conducted professionally and ethically.

Alongside my private practice, I'm also a lecturer at Metanoia Institute, a leading training provider for counselling and psychotherapy. I have also been privileged to help clients within counselling agencies on a short and long term basis, supporting them with a wide range of issues within their lives.

How will we work together?

Woman blowing dandelion seeds and old negative self-beliefs away in counselling

Within my approach to counselling I see you, as my client, as the expert of the world that you experience. I believe that you have the resources within you to live the life you wish to lead but that sometimes experiences you may have had in your life and beliefs that you may have developed about yourself may have gotten in the way of this.

Therefore, rather than telling you what to do or giving you strategies to implement, I will instead hold a space for you where we can explore together your unique experiences, untangling them, finding meaning within them and discovering ways forwards that make sense to you. This will potentially help you to move towards self-healing, self-acceptance and being able to live a freer and happier life.

I also believe that every client is unique and what works for one person, may not work for another. Therefore I aim to offer you a tailored therapy experience where we will identify together what is useful and helpful for you. I will check in with you on a regular basis to make sure you are getting what you’d like to from your therapy and we will go at your pace.

Ultimately it’s you that decides (with my help if needed!) what we look at each week together. It will be your safe space and I’m committed to ensuring you get the most from it.
